Pricing MMS in Europe
According to a recent report from In-Stat/MDR, since the current price per multimedia message service (MMS) is $0.40 in Europe, the service’s potential lies in business usage.
However, as the price per message declines by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% between 2003 and 2007—hitting $0.17 per message in 2007—adoption of the technology should rise.
In-Stat projects that MMS and instant messaging (IM) penetration will rise to 10% by 2007. The company notes that the only message service to hit Europe with ?a bang? has been short message service (SMS).
Jupiter Research projects that by 2007, 31% of the population in Western Europe will have MMS-enabled devices, but only 21% of the population will be active MMS users. By the end of this year, only 2% of the population will be active MMS users, notes Jupiter.
