2002 slecht jaar voor PDA’s

Volgens Gartner Dataquest is de markt voor PDA’s in 2002 met 9,1% afgenomen tot een totaal van 12,1 miljoen verkochte PDA’s wereldwijd.
According to Gartner Dataquest, 12.1 million personal digital assistants (PDAs) were shipped worldwide in 2002—down 9.1% from the amount shipped in 2001. Gartner notes that in 2002, 70% of PDA purchases made worldwide were by consumers whereas just 30% were made by businesses.
Gartner notes that in 2002, Palm claimed the greatest share of the PDA market with 36.8%, or 4.4 million units. Still, the company’s market share declined by over 12% over the previous year. Meanwhile, Toshiba’s share of the worldwide market grew by over 3,000% and Sony’s share increased by over 160% between 2001 and 2002.
