MoMo #9: Jury Hahn en Dan Albritton van Megaphone
Dé sensatie van afgelopen MoMo (maandag 02 februari) was wat mij betreft (naast presentatie Barry O’Neill) toch zeker de duopresentatie van Megaphone. Wat een cool concept, hoe gaaf was het om alle theorie ‘echt’ te zien worden in een interactieve presentatie. “Grab!, Grab!,Grab!, Grab!, Grab!,” gonsde De Rode Hoed. Had je bij moeten zijn: met je stem een poppetje aansturen op een gigantisch scherm om zoveel mogelijk popcorn te bemachtigen (ik dacht meteen aan Rembrandtplein scherm Escape). Hoeveel potentie heeft dit! Volgens mij veel, heel veel. Eindeloze businessconcepts…

MegaPhone was created by Jury Hahn as part of her graduate studies at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program. It is based on her idea that the best way to play multiplayer games in public spaces is to use “your phone as your controller.” The first version of MegaPhone was two player, and was introduced at the Fall 2006 ITP show. The second version was multiplayer, and was launched at the Spring 2007 ITP show as Jury Hahn’s Master’s Thesis. In the Fall of 2007 the production version of MegaPhone launched, and has since been powering out of home games for a variety of clients all over the world.

Dit was mijn eerste Mobile Monday en het was een lange zit om naar al die presentaties te luisteren.
Het was verstandig van de organisatie om deze als laatste te doen, anders vielen alle andere presentaties tegen of konden die de aandacht niet vasthouden.
